Darren Solomon will be the newest face on Prince Albert’s council with his win in the by-election to replace Ted Zurakowski, the first vote in Ward 8 for over a decade.

“I’m ecstatic. I mean, I think I’m a little surprised that yes, it was a close race and wasn’t quite sure how things were in shake out with the five of us running,” he said.

Solomon said he heard from residents while knocking on doors during the campaign and noticed the residents are engaged in the political process and had a lot of questions.

“It was very good the doorsteps were great. There are so many fantastic people in PA asking so many questions, bringing up so many similar concerns and they’ve really given a mandate of a lot of work to do,” he stated.

He has already had residents calling with their concerns before he was even elected, so he knows he has a big job ahead of him and big shoes to fill.

“Every door I knocked on. Ted has done something for somebody. and it’s big shoes to fill for sure and I’m going to do my best and they’re really looking for leadership. And I’m so happy that we had such a great panel of folks that stepped up and wanted to be the next leaders of the city, and I’m honored to have that chance now,” said Solomon.
