REGINA, SK – Sloan Stanick ended his season with a bang on Saturday night, netting himself a hat-trick to help the Prince Albert Raiders over the Regina Pats 5-3 at the Brandt Centre.

With the three goals tonight, the pride of Rapid City, MB finished the season with a new career high in goals with 31. The three-point burst also helped him become the teams top scorer with 64 points.

Along with Stanick, Aiden Oiring and Evan Herman also scored, while Ryder Ritchie had two assists and Oiring, Landon Kosior, Easton Kovacs, Eric Johnston, and Hayden Pakkala had one each.

Stanislav Svozil, Tanner Howe, and Connor Bedard each found the back of the net for the Pats while Alexander Suzdalev had two helpers and Howe and Tanner Brown both had one.

Tikhon Chaika turned aside 29 shots to help the Raiders end the campaign with a 28-37-3-0 record.

Kelton Pyne made 25 saves for Regina where they end their regular season with a record of 34-30-3-1.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The Pats had the advantage midway through the first period when the Raiders went down two to make it a 5-on-3 penalty kill. Thanks to some selfless plays and some stellar goaltending, Prince Albert managed to kill both penalties to get back to even strength.

Moments later, Regina would also go down two guys to give PA the extra long powerplay. Unlike the Pats, the Raiders converted on their opportunity. A point shot from Kovacs was deflected off an opposing defender and hit Oiring up high and went in. The initial call on the ice was no goal as it appeared the winger batted it in with his hand. However, a long review determined that it went off of his chest and in and was then counted a good goal to make it 1-0 PA. The Raiders then carried that lead heading into the second period.

Prince Albert kept on the gas in the second and managed to triple their lead. Stanick ripped home a one timer from Ritchie before scoring again on a short handed breakaway. He mishandled the puck, then recollected himself before going forehand and then backhand to get his second of the period.

Fast forward to the third where Regina finally managed to get on the board. Brown got an assist in his final WHL game by connecting with Svozil for his 11th of the year to begin the comeback trail for the Pats.

The Raiders, however, had a response a short time later to restore the lead with Stanick netting his third of the night, completing the hat-trick to make it 4-1.

Also, playing in his final game, PA captain Herman lit the lamp for the 63rd of his career to extend the lead.

The Pats began to build momentum moments later and cashed in with Prince Albert’s own Howe tickling twine before Bedard snapped a five-period pointless streak where Regina now only trails by three.

But, that’s as close as the Pats would get though as the Raiders ended their 2022-23 campaign with a 5-3 victory.
