PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Prince Albert Mintos brought the offense on Friday night, toppling the Tisdale Trojans 5-1 at the Art Hauser Centre.

The win comes 48 hours after falling 7-3 to the Saskatoon Blazers on the road. That contest was a makeup game that was originally supposed to be played on Nov. 6 but was postponed due to weather.

Five different played lit the lamp for the Mintos, including Kelan Simmonds, Owen Dyck, Konnor Watson, Abinet Klassen, and Logan Pickford while Scott McLean, Raydr Wallington, Owen Nelson, and Roper Blanchard each netted helpers.

Carter Ralston was the lone goal scorer for Tisdale while Madden Wallis collected the only assist.

Brady Holtvogt got the start for the Mintos, stopping 28 of 29 shots to help PA improve to 8-7-0-1 on the campaign.

Lane Beal got the nod for Tisdale where he made 33 saves as the Trojans now fall to 4-14-0-1 on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The Mintos wasted no time getting to work against the Trojans, scoring multiple times in the first. Simmonds scored the games opening goal on the powerplay after sending his shot off some traffic in front while Dyck rifled one from the point and past Beal where PA led 2-0 after twenty.

The second was going by quick until Tisdale managed to end Holtvogt’s shutout bid. Wallis connected with Ralston who found twine to make it a one-goal game. Unfortunately for the Trojans, this is as close as they’d come to the Mintos in the second.

Watson rolled the highlight reel six minutes later to restore the PA lead. The Spiritwood, SK product caught a Blanchard pass for a breakaway while short-handed and opted to collect some style points by going between the legs and upstairs to make it 3-1.

The Mintos went on to add another before the clock ran thanks to a nice solo effort by Klassen in the offensive zone. Behind the play however, Raydr Wallington and Parker Dunn got into it behind the Minto net which led to Wallington’s cage getting ripped off his helmet. The scuffle ended with both players receiving two-minutes penalties plus a ten-minute misconduct.

Pickford added another short-handed goal for PA late in the third to seal the 5-1 win.

The Mintos have over a week break before they’re back at home for their next game, where they’ll host the Regina Pat Canadians on Saturday, Nov. 26. Puck drop is at 7:00pm.
