The person accused of striking 15-year-old Kaylan Keenatch and killing her while driving impaired will be tried early next year.

The accused, who was 17 at the time, will be tried by a judge in Prince Albert Provincial Court in a two-day trial starting January 12.

Kaylan died after being struck by a vehicle while walking down a road in Debden near the arena. She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died the following day, on July 13.

The matter has been before the courts for some time as the incident took place in 2020. One previous trial date was re-scheduled.
