Amber Alert cancelled, adults and children found in South Dakota

Aug 10, 2022 | 7:21 AM

Saskatchewan’s most recent Amber Alert has been cancelled.

Early this morning, Saskatchewan RCMP was advised by their policing partners in the United States that the four individuals who were the subject of Amber Alerts in Saskatchewan and South Dakota were located and were with officials in South Dakota.

The Amber Alert extension into South Dakota, was requested by the Saskatchewan RCMP on Aug. 9.

During a news conference, police indicated seven-year-old Luna Potts and eight-year-old Hunter Potts, along with their mother, were believed to be in South Dakota with 50-year-old Benjamin Martin Moore.

It was also disclosed Moore has a history of sexual offences against children and was previously convicted of sexual interference with a minor.

He now faces a charge of failing to report information within seven days of changing his address, which is required for convicted sex offenders.

RCMP also said Moore was being investigated by social services when he left with the children and their mother.

Officers went last week to their home in Eastend, southwest of Regina, to question Moore but found it abandoned.

The Saskatchewan RCMP thank the public, our policing partners in Canada and the United States, and the media for their assistance and continued support of the Amber Alert program.
