EARCandy music festival to rock P.A. this weekend

The summer of fun continues in Prince Albert with a unique music festival that will take place over the weekend.

The EA Rawlinson Centre will be hosting EARCandy on Saturday and Sunday featuring a variety of talent from Saskatchewan and abroad.

The name is a fun play on words for both the ear candy of the different styles of music you can hear and the acronym for the performing arts centre which is EAR.

Cara Stelmaschuk with the EA Rawlinson Centre shared some of the exciting artists making their way to town during an interview with Cristy Beggs on CKBI.

“It’s going to be like a parking lot music festival,” she said. “We’re going to have some really, really great talent. It’s kind of going to be a bit of everything.”

Some of the talent arriving for the free weekend concerts include Teegan and Lauren, Katelyn Lehner, Rewind, and Good Fellas.

The cherry on top of the EAR Candy festival happens later Saturday and Sunday, starting with a drive-in concert with Soul Sensation on Saturday night.

“We’re going to go back to last summer, we’re going to bring in one drive-in concert,” said Stelmaschuk. “It’s a really fun event. People bring some food, they bring some snacks, they bring their lawn chairs, they sit outside their vehicle, and they listen to the music. It’s a really neat experience.”

Tickets for that show are $40 per vehicle and can be purchased online.

Moving to Sunday night where Stelmaschuk couldn’t hold in her excitement when announcing Harlequin would perform at the centre.

“People know them, so it’s going to be a really big show. We think it’s going to have a really good turnout. We’re excited to have someone at that level coming here for a nice night of rock.”

Tickets for that performance are also $40 and can be bought online.
