Driver late for golf tournament gets big fine

RCMP near Birch Hills handed out a hefty fine this weekend after pulling over a car driving 60 km/hour faster than the speed limit.

The driver of the car said their passenger was late for a golf tournament, but the excuse sounded a little off par to the officer who handed over a $928 ticket to the driver.

The RCMP member was a motorcycle officer with the Combined Traffic Services.
