Prince Albert’s Howe joins Canada’s U18 squad
The WHL season may have ended on a disappointing note for Prince Albert native Tanner Howe as his Regina Pats were eliminated from playoff contention this past weekend. His hockey season is not finished, however.
A season that has seen many personal accomplishments for the 16-year-old now sees another, as Howe has been named to Hockey Canada’s roster for the World U18 championship in Germany. Canada is the reigning gold medalist, having won last year’s event in Texas.
Despite not turning 16 until midway through the season, the Prince Albert Minor Hockey product had an excellent campaign with the Pats. In his first full WHL season, Howe posted 27 goals and 69 points.
Though Connor Bedard had an incredible season for Regina, Howe’s contributions were not to be lost in the shadow of his teammate’s. He finished tied for second in the entire WHL among U17 scorers and sixth among U18 skaters.
