Men accused of possessing restricted weapons, released from custody

Mar 18, 2022 | 1:55 PM

Two men charged after a weapons bust this month in Prince Albert, were released from custody Friday morning.

John Kargbo and Malual Yel-Malual, both from Saskatoon, have been placed under strict conditions until their next court appearances in May.

As per discussions heard at Prince Albert Provincial Court, those conditions include a 24 hour curfew, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, electronic monitoring, and not to be in Prince Albert unless for legal reasons. Family members of both men were in court Friday to show support.

As a result of a traffic stop on March 9, police found a number of guns, a baggie of pills, cannabis and a small quantity of cash. In total, approximately 100 charges were laid in connection to the investigation.

Lenny Wuttanee and Yeina Koladino, were also arrested, and following their own releases from custody earlier this week, have court dates on March 28.

A number of factors may play into a Crown’s decision to consent to release including criminal record, likelihood of not showing up for court, and the conditions being agreed upon.
