Owner and head chef Jeannette Kindzerski’s passion for cooking has turned int a 40-year career. Originally from Saskatoon, Kindzerski began working at the age of 15 in hotel kitchens and for small restaurants. “I have a passion for cooking and I still love it after 40 years. It was my drive to buy a building and my passion to cook all in one.”

Shananigan’s first opened about 22 years ago and Kindzerski has owned it for almost 11 years. “I’ve done a lot of improvements to the place as far as turning it from a coffee and dessert bar to a full restaurant and catering business,” she said.

Kindzerski prides herself on making everything from scratch and customers love her homestyle food. “They love my cheesecakes, and they especially love my carrot cake. It’s one of my best sellers, but they like everything at Shanangian’s.

Kindzerski is quick not to take credit for all her success, saying it’s her staff that makes Shananigan’s what it is. “I’ve got the best staff ever. They work so hard, and they care.”
With the huge selection of pastries, fresh fruit and veggies, an omelet bar, and even prime rib, the Sunday brunch is something everyone should experience. The weekday traditional breakfast is nothing to shy away from either.

Shananigan’s is the perfect spot for after work cocktails as well. “we’re fully licensed so of course we sell wine, beer and hard liquor,” Come the middle of May and will have the patio open,” Kindzerski said.

Shananigan’s features nightly menu specials, events like ‘Thursday wing night’ and ‘Friday prime rib night’ and they are also avaliable to cater events.

It’s open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
