Bears get back into win column with big shutout win over Gold Wings
The Prince Albert Northern Bears snapped a four-game winless streak with a bang as they shutout the Weyburn Gold Wings 4-0 on Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre.
Within the final five minutes of the first period, Julia Cey, Brooklin Fry and Sophia Zuck all scored to give the Bears a 3-0 advantage. Calla Kampen scored for good measure halfway through the third.
Paige Fischer got her first SFU18AAAHL shutout, making 20 saves in the victory.
The win snapped a four-game winless streak for the Bears, who lost 3-2 in overtime to the Notre Dame Hounds on Nov. 27 in their last game, before two more regulation defeats to the Hounds and a 5-0 loss to the Regina Rebels.
