Prince Albert woman grabs hold of gold at national Judo competition
Prince Albert’s Jannessa Keays was among ten Judo athletes from Saskatchewan who attended the Quebec Open last weekend.
The 18-year-old won all four of her matches on Sunday before holding up her first place trophy.
“The last circuit was two years ago and I would lose a couple ad I’d get silver or bronze so coming back and going 4-0 definitely boosted my confidence,” she said.
Keays, who still has her sights set on one day competing at the Olympics, is currently in her first year of post-secondary education. She’s studying accounting at the regional training centre in Lethbridge. In January, she plans to compete at the Elite Judo championships in Edmonton.
