One day after firing his lawyer, a man responsible for an armed robbery in Prince Albert received a four year prison sentence.

Keith Henderson, 32, appeared by video Wednesday at Prince Albert Provincial and entered guilty pleas to a number of weapons, assault and mischief related charges.

With respect to the robbery, the case dates back to Oct. 2020, when Henderson, armed with a long barrelled gun, entered the cold beer and wine store at Baileys on Marquis Road, and left with a small amount of cash, as well as two bottles of alcohol.

Police officers surrounded the area and Henderson was arrested close by.

During a separate court hearing Tuesday, Henderson advised the court he no longer wanted help from his legal aid lawyer and wanted to settle his matters so he could stop wasting time on remand, and start moving in the “right direction.”

He acknowledged his actions have affected his spouse and his children. Henderson received credit for 129 days spent in custody.

The name of the business was not released by police. At the time of the incident, paNOW was informed by people who were at the scene and who expressed concern over what had transpired and the emotional impact it had on staff. When contacted by paNOW for comment, management declined.

In addition to the armed robbery, Henderson also entered guilty pleas to a number of other unrelated incidents, including a common assault on his brother, and spitting at the Walmart security staff.
