Province reports 409 new cases of COVID-19 as well as additional cases previously not reported

As of Oct. 7, there are 650 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 70,457 reported cases.

Today’s total also includes 241 positive cases that were not included in the provincial totals from tests done in September.

The Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory (RRPL) determined that results from a number of specimens tested for COVID-19 were not entered into the provincial COVID-19 database. After an investigation, it was determined 2,777 tests were not entered in September, including 241 positive tests. Note that these issues did not affect the notification of positive results to tested individuals.

The new cases for Oct. 7 new case numbers reflect the addition of the 241 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

As of Oct. 7, there are 409 confirmed cases with the additional 241 posted results for a total of 650.

Four new deaths were also reported today bringing the provincial total to 737 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 who have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.0 per cent.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (23), Far North East (31), North West (141), North Central (53), and North East (18).

Two duplicate cases have been removed; one from Regina zone (from September 28), and one pending location (from September 25).

There are 4,564 cases that are considered active and 65,156 cases are considered recovered.

More than one fourth (27.2 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

One in four (25.8 per cent) of new cases eligible for vaccination (aged 12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

NITHA numbers

As reported on Oct. 6, there are 43 new cases to report today in NITHA communities; 29 (67 per cent) were unvaccinated, five (12 per cent) are partially vaccinated and nine (21 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 192 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), six; Far North West, 69; Far North East, 76; North Central, 27; and North East, 14; 5970 cases (96 per cent) have recovered, and eight people are being hospitalized.
