With wins in their last three games, the Prince Albert Raiders were rolling heading into their lone game of the weekend as they welcomed the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Raiders fought hard for quick onetimer oppotunities, and they capitalized one each as the Raiders earned a 4-3 win.

The Raiders came out of the gates hot, but it was the Thunderbirds that got on the board first. Josh Polak turned the puck over at the Raider blueline, then passed out for Brock England up the ice on a breakaway, and he opened the scoring at 6:30.

On their first powerplay of the game though, the Raiders tied the game. Alisher Sarkenov worked the puck back to the middle of the blueline for Brock Cripps, and he sent a pass down low for Brandon Gorzynski at the low right circle. Gorzynski hammered the onetimer with just enough room to sneak in his eighth of the season at 13:09.

Then at 15:10, the Raiders took the lead. On the forecheck Maddix McCagherty didn’t get an assist when he made a check behind the net that freed the puck up, and Alisher Sarkenov collected the loose change on the goal line. Sarkenov passed the puck out to the slot for Evan Smith, and he fired a onetimer home for his second of the season.

Before the end of the first period, Connor Howe dropped the gloves with Josh Polak, and Howe left the game shortly after.

It took the Thunderbirds just 36 seconds to tie the game. On the rush, Brock England sent a puck from the right wall towards the goal for Josh Polak crashing the goal. Polak knocked the puck into the net just as he knocked the net off the pegs, but after a review, the goal would count and the game was tied.

At the 11:10 mark though, the Raiders took the lead right back. Henry Chmiel collected the puck on the right wall and he passed into the middle of the blue line for Jordan Murray. He skated to the left, then drove down the wall into the corner and looked like he was curling around the back of the net, but instead he saw Kyle Obobaifo in the slot. He fired the onetimer, and Obobaifo had his second of the season.

After 2: Raiders 3 – 2 Thunderbirds, shots 21-9 Thunderbirds, 33-24 Thunderbirds overall

The Raiders started the second with a full double minor penalty to kill, and they killed almost the entire thing without a faceoff. Play continued for another minute and a half before the Raiders extended their lead at the 7:11 mark when Jordan Murray held the puck in at the left side of the blueline, sent it down low for Riley Boychuk in the corner, and he fed Alisher Sarkenov in the slot for another onetimer, and Sareknov had scored his ninth of the year.

The Thunderbirds got one back near the end of the game when Simon Lovsin played the puck out of the corner and off of Michal Orsulak’s stick, and it bounced high into the air, off of former Raider Ethan Bibeau, and into the net. Bibeau had his first of the season in his return to the Art Hauser Centre at the 16:32 mark.

FINAL: Raiders 4 – 2 Thunderbirds, shots 11-10 Thunderbirds, 44-34 Thunderbirds overall
