This year, a local art gallery will be participating in the province-wide online Art Now Fine Art Fair.

On The Avenue Art Gallery is excited to be participating in the art fair, it starts on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. and runs until September 26.

“It is a province-wide art fair, it is mostly online this year,” Jesse Campbell, with the art gallery told paNOW. “It supports, celebrates, and promotes art made in Saskatchewan.”

Seventeen art galleries across the province will take part in the art fair this year. Each gallery will put together its own art exhibition and they will be able to be seen, in-person starting, September 24th.

“It shows the diversity of art that is being made in this province,” Campbell said. “Art now provides a platform for people to chat with the artists, and purchase art as well.”

All the art across the province can be seen online at www.artnow.ca.

On The Avenue Art Gallery will be showcasing artwork from members of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

“This is the only work that will be coming from northern Saskatchewan,” Campbell added. “There are 10 artists in total. There is a wide range of work including paintings, beadwork, and dream catchers.

“It’s a really good way to get a look at their values, culture, and way of life.”

Along with the art, there will also be online artist talks and panel discussions. Campbell said there will five different panel discussions. They will begin tomorrow, September 17th.

These conversations will include many educational topics such as artists’ inspirations and lifestyles. Studio footage will be shown as well.

“On September 21st there will be a panel about the creative process,” Campbell said. “We also wanted to look at how artwork fits in the provinces political, cultural, social, concepts. That takes place on Sunday, the 19th.”

The first panel is tomorrow night, beginning at 7 p.m. This panel is called “Show and Tell, Connecting with Art’, and will showcase artwork in artists’ households.

“There is quite a wide range of topics, but I think there is something for everyone,” Campbell added.

Access to the artist talks and panel discussions can be found online at www.artnow.ca.

On The Avenue Art Gallery is also planning a few events for culture days, later this month.

On September 25th there will be a dream catcher workshop, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“In addition to that, they will also be putting together 100 dream catcher kits, so people can take them home and people can make the dream catchers when they like,” Campbell said. “There is a ton of stuff going on for culture days.”
