P.A. Council of Women announce 2021 inductee to Women’s Hall of Fame

The 2021 inductee into the Prince Albert Women’s Hall of Fame is Marjorie Bodnarchuk. Coinciding with International Women’s Day, her induction ceremony will take place March 8 at Prince Albert City Hall.

Bodnarchuk has volunteered from a young age – something instilled in her by her parents. She was very pleased to know she had been chosen.

“It was a huge surprise and I am very humbled. It is a real honour,” Bodnarchuk said. Adding one of her proudest achievements so far has been the ribbon cutting at the grand opening of the E.A. Rawlinson Centre for the Arts.

“I had been a volunteer participant on the fundraising committee and then I stayed on committees that helped plan the grand opening and thinking of all of the years of work that went into planning and fundraising,” she said. “We had finally come to the point that our brand new facility was going to be opened and it was just such an exciting time because it is such a wonderful element in the Prince Albert community.”

According to a media release from the Prince Albert Council of Women, Bodnarchuk has given much of herself to the community. She has shared her love of music by sitting on the Prince Albert Music Festival Association committee, Prince Albert Girls’ Choir Parents Association, and has been a board member of Dance Saskatchewan and Prince Albert Barveenok Ukrainian Dancers.

Prince Albert Council of Women President, Patricia Leson, said Bodnarchuk, having spent years as a registered nurse and nursing manager, has a special interest in the care and health of the people in the community. She has been a member of the board of directors for Mont St. Joseph Home, Pineview Family Auxiliary, Association of Saskatchewan Care Home Auxiliaries and Prince Albert Parkland Hospice Palliative Care Association.

“The Council of Women is pleased to induct Marj Bodnarchuk. Whenever there is a need, Marj is the first one to offer her help,” Leson said. “One of the factors taken into consideration by the selection committee is the themes of both the United Nations and the Government of Canada. Marj truly encompass both the Government of Canada’s 2021 theme and the UN’s 2021 theme…’Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.'”
