Alleged drive-by shooter arrested by police

Feb 3, 2021 | 4:05 PM

Prince Albert Police may have found the man who pulled the trigger, during a drive-by shooting in the city last October.

Keistin Blake Deschambault, 22, faces numerous charges including attempted murder, pointing a firearm, and intentional discharge of a firearm.

The case dates back to the evening of Oct. 4, 2020, when a man dressed all in red was shot multiple times, near the corner of 28th St. and sixth Ave. E.

According to the statement of facts read in court last month, during a sentencing hearing for one of the co-accused, the victim was shot “seven-eight times,” but fortunately none of the wounds were life threatening. Police believe the incident was gang related.

The suspect vehicle, a black SUV, was later located at an address in the east flat area, after crashing into a fence. Inside the vehicle, police found ammunition as well as a number of weapons including a rifle and a sawed off shotgun.

Police also learned through their investigation the vehicle was the same one sought by Meadow Lake RCMP, following an armed robbery on Oct. 3.

Matilda Keenatch-Yellowhead, 18, a passenger in the vehicle, received a 15 month sentence for her involvement. She entered guilty pleas to resisting arrest, being an occupant in a vehicle where a firearm was present, and also being accessory after the fact.

The third co-accused, D.J. Montgrand, 20, was charged with attempted murder and numerous weapons-related offences. His matters are being spoken to on Feb. 16. According to evidence heard in court he was the one driving the stolen vehicle.

Police have now indicated they are not seeking any further suspects in connection with this incident.
