According to Calgary Police, the video circulating online of a 21-year-old man being arrested was due to the individual trying to avoid law enforcement by obstructing and resisting officers.

In a statement posted to its Twitter account, Calgary Police say the 21-year-old’s arrest included allegedly “trying to avoid a ticket by refusing to identify himself and not remaining with officers when instructed to do so.”

Bylaw Services was called when over 40 people were using the outdoor skating area, according to the statement.

“Our officers then also asked users multiple times to voluntarily disperse and explained the health orders that require it. The arrested man was also asked multiple times to comply with the restrictions and was given multiple opportunities to only receive a ticker after refusing, but would not provide his name or identification,” the statement reads.

“When told he was under arrest for obstruction, he had multiple chances to comply with the officers before the video recordings started.”

Member of well-known hockey family identifies as man in video

According to a Facebook post, Ocean Wiesblatt has identified as the individual who was arrested in the video.

Wiesblatt is a brother within the well-known hockey family. His brother Ozzy has played for the Prince Albert Raiders since 2017 and was drafted to the San Jose Sharks in 2020.

Ocean played in the AJHL for the Brooks Bandits, the Penticton Vees of the BCHL and won an ANAVET Cup with the MJHL’s Portage Terriers in his junior hockey career.

In the Facebook post, Ocean says not to donate to anything under his name, saying it isn’t him creating them.

“I’m doing this for my freedom and yours. The mask on your face this is enforced by government should be your choice to wear or not to wear not anyone else’s choice because it’s your life, body and health,” the post continues to read.

The suspect says he will post a video in the coming days to explain what has happened since the arrest.

Aside from Ocean and Ozzy, the Wiesblatt family also includes Orca, who played for the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen and Oasiz, who played his first WHL game with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2019-20 season.
