Several COVID cases, one school moves to remote learning

Dec 7, 2020 | 12:04 AM

On the weekend, the Saskatchewan Health Authority has identified a positive COVID-19 case in an individual in several schools: Queen Mary, Arthur Pechey, Carlton and Vincent Massey. Vincent Massey school is moving to remote learning until after the Christmas break.

In a media release Sunday night, the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division (SRPSD) said communication is being shared with the classrooms/cohorts, the connected staff, as well as with the school community. The source of the transmission is part of Health’s ongoing investigation. Privacy concerns prevent sharing of further details of the case.

In Queen Mary, Arthur Pechey, Carlton, the learning program will continue remotely only for those students and staff affected while in-person learning will continue for the rest of the school.

Vincent Massey moves to remote learning

All students in Vincent Massey Public School will be moving to Level 4 of the Saskatchewan Safe Schools Plan, which means beginning Monday Dec. 7, 2020 all students will move to remote learning until after the Christmas break.

In a further email on Monday, the SRPSD said there was initially some possibility that some Vincent Massey classes may return to in-person learning prior to the break but that is no longer the case.

Editor’s note: this story was amended Monday Dec.7 to make clear all students in Vincent Massey Public School are moving to remote learning until after the Christmas break.
