Prince Albert Gymnastics Club shines in Las Vegas

Over the weekend, the Prince Albert Gymnastics Club sent eight gymnasts to compete in the Lady Luck International Invitational in Las Vegas.

According to a media release from the Prince Albert Gymnastic Club, the four-day event at the South Point Hotel and Casino had competitors from all over Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

The P.A. girls performed in multiple competitions going up against a wide range of athletes.

“Our women’s gymnastics team in P.A. is a force to be reckoned with – we continue to achieve results not just in Saskatchewan and Western Canada but also, nationally and beyond,” Executive Director of Prince Albert Gymnastics Michael Amouri said.

Three athletes competed in the platinum category. Madilyn Gansauge finished eighth on the vault, third on the beam and sixth on the floor. She finished seventh overall after her competitions.

Cienna-Lee Sayese placed second on the floor, and seventh on bars.

Sherice Penner had a big weekend finishing second overall after getting second on bars, first on the beam, and eighth on the floor.

The diamond category also had two P.A. athletes taking part with Charley Jones and Haylee Lang. Kiera Hayes could not compete due to an injury. Jones competed her way to fourth on bars, third on the floor, and fourth on the beam. Her performance landed her a fourth overall finish. Lang achieved fifth on the beam.

Gymnasts Serra Gillis and Sarah Franklin competed in the Junior Olympic 10 category. Gillis finished fourth on bars and eighth on the beam. Franklin achieved sixth on vault and eight on the floor finishing seventh overall.
