Sports Year in Review; Team Silvernagle storms Scotties
Team Silvernagle’s success through last year makes our Top Sports Stories for 2019.
Although Robyn Silvernagle’s curling team is based out of North Battleford, there is plenty of Prince Albert flavour on the team. Lead Kara Thevenot is from Prince Albert and vice-skip Stefanie Lawton grew up in Prince Albert.
Team Silvernagle beat Sherry Anderson (also originally from Prince Albert) in the finals to win the 2019 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts with a steal in the last end. At the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Silvernagle went 8-3 in the round robin and championship pool play, before winning the bronze medal.
Thevenot was awarded the Female Athlete of the Year at the 12th Annual Prince Albert Kinsmen-Raiders Sportsman Dinner on Oct. 19.
