Prince Albert’s Owen Ozar will be donning the red maple leaf this weekend.

On Tuesday, Ozar was included in the Canada West’s roster to play at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge in Dawson Creek, B.C. Dec. 7-15.

Ozar is just one of two players on Canada West’s team that’s from Saskatchewan, with the other being Luke Mylymok from Wilcox.

Ozar is playing in his second year with the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL, scoring 13 goals and 39 points in 32 games this year. Ozar is currently tied for fourth in the BCHL scoring race. The 19-year-old is also committed to the University of Denver Pioneers.

The Ozar announcement is the second this week of a Prince Albert player getting attention from Hockey Canada. On Monday, Braden Schneider was named to Hockey Canada’s selection camp for the U20 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in the Czech Republic.

Schneider is in his NHL draft eligible year, and is a projected first round pick of this year’s NHL Entry Draft. He has three goals and 20 points in 28 games in his third season with the Brandon Wheat Kings.
