Hoback makes it four wins in-a-row

Conservative MP for the Prince Albert riding, Randy Hoback has cruised to another resounding election victory, his fourth in succession.

With 90 per cent of the polls reporting Hoback had 22,492 votes, which equaled 67.7 per cent of the vote.

Harmony Johnson-Harder with the NDP had 5,833 votes, which was 17.6 per cent of the vote.

Liberal Estelle Hjertaas was in third place with 3,385 votes, or 10.2 per cent of the vote.

Kelly day with the Peoples party of Canada had 656 votes for two per cent of the tally.

While Hoback handily took the riding, he expressed his disappointment in the Liberal minority win and is keeping a close eye on the amount of seats in the House of Commons and whether Trudeau will have enough seats to govern.

“We really don’t know until the very end,” he said. “There’s lots of things that are going to be playing out here, until we know the actual seat count.”

Earlier in the campaign, Hoback told paNOW he expected a return to the sort of large wins he saw during his 2008 and 2011 successes because he figured voters would turn away from Trudeau. In 2015 Hoback’s share of the vote dipped just below the 50 per cent mark, in part because of the so-called Trudeau wave.

This is a developing story with more to come as votes are still being tallied.
