Bail denied for two men accused of threatening seniors at Herb Basset home

Oct 10, 2019 | 5:05 PM

The two men accused of threatening staff and residents at a Prince Albert long term care home last month, will stay behind bars after both were denied bail.

Ralph Henderson, 38, was denied bail at a hearing Thursday at Prince Albert Provincial Court. Ramsay Halkett, the co-accused, received the same decision Wednesday at a separate hearing in the same courtroom.

On the morning of Sept. 29, police were called to Herb Bassett home for a complaint of two men outside the building with an edged weapon. A knife was later found at the scene by police, and the two men were arrested without incident.

A witness, at the time, told paNOW the men attempted to enter the building. One of the men said they would kill everyone inside, the witness said.

Neither the evidence heard at the bail hearing, nor the judge’s reasons for denying bail can be published due to a publication ban. Both men have been scheduled to make their next court appearances on Oct. 23.
