Sep 13, 2019 | 9:00 AM

A family in Prince Albert’s midtown area has been left to pick up the pieces after their home was ransacked in broad daylight this week.

The incident happened sometime between the hours of 8:30 a.m.and 3:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Seventh St. E.

Aimee Dagenais told paNOW when she returned home from school, she instantly noticed her television was missing.

“My stomach just sunk and I looked over to where my back door was and it was wide open; it was pried open with a crowbar,” she said.

After further inspection of the house, Dagenais discovered her own room was torn apart, as well as her teenage daughter’s room upstairs. Among the items taken from her daughter’s room were make up, clothing and shoes.

“They didnt even pick and choose through it, they just took everything,” she said.

Now more than two days after the incident, Dagenais said she can get over losing her own personal heirlooms, or even her watch collection, but said she is especially hurt still someone would take her children’s belongings.

“I don’t have a lot of money like I’m a server. I’ve been a server like my whole adult life. I’ve spent over the years making a beautiful home for my kids and doing everything I possibly could to give them that stuff,” she said.

Dagenais said she is coming to grips with the fact it all happened during broad daylight. Both of her neighbours were away when the theft occurred.

“It’s just unbelievable because this would have taken them a little while to gather all this stuff. They were doing trips back and forth to a vehicle for sure,” she said.

Prince Albert Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident. A friend of the family has also created a GoFundMe page.

“It’s scary too you know because you know I am paranoid if they will come back or something will happen,” Dagenais said.

According to the most recent statistics provided by the Prince Albert Police Service, there have been 209 reported break and enters to residential properties this year in the city up until the end of August. In comparison there were 187 for the same period in 2018.
