P.A. fire dept. responds to another vehicle fire

Mar 15, 2018 | 12:00 PM

There have been four vehicle fires in Prince Albert in the past week, but police said there is no reason for the public to be concerned.

The latest fire happened Wednesday night in the Victoria Hospital parking lot. Fire crews found a fire in the interior of an SUV, which was quickly entinguished.

Prince Albert Police Spokesperson Alanna Adamko said the fires are not suspicious in nature.

“Police are treating each incident as a seperate incident,” she said.

Deputy Fire Chief Corey Rodgers told paNOW he had no reason to suspect the fires were related.

“Sometimes they’re busy with car accidents, sometimes they’re busy with garbage can fires; it’s just coincidental,” he said.

Two of the fires last week happened in Prince Albert’s midtown neighbourhood. Ward Three Councilor Evert Botha encouraged residents to report suspicious vehicles or activity.

“I would encourage all residents to report abandoned or junk vehicles to the Prince Albert Police Service, who will have Bylaw attend. Removing these from our communities is part of maintaining cleaner, safer communities,” he said.
