Vincent Massey students return after fire

Sep 7, 2017 | 9:07 AM

Students are heading back to classes today at Vincent Massey Community School, after a fire sent everyone home early yesterday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the school shortly before noon yesterday after a small fire broke out on a stove. Staff members used fire extinguishers to keep the blaze from growing while the school was evacuated, and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire upon arrival. No injuries were reported.

John Schultz, Superintendent of Schools with the Sask. Rivers Public School Division, told paNOW things are largely back to normal at the school.

“Our facilities superintendent worked hard with his team, and they ventilated the whole place overnight,” he said. “The area that was affected is all sealed off.”
