Fall sitting of Saskatchewan legislature begins Oct. 13

The fall sitting of the legislature will begin Oct. 13.

Premier Brad Wall made the announcement Monday. The 25-day session will be the last sitting of the current legislative assembly before this spring’s provincial election on April 4, 2016.

Wall indicated the sitting will be a continuation of the 2014-2015 session and there will be no throne speech.

“The normal process is to introduce bills in the fall sitting and pass them in the spring sitting,” Wall said. “However, there will be no spring sitting until after the election and there are a few pieces of legislation we want to pass before the election, so we are deviating from the normal calendar just a bit to provide more time to debate those bills.”
