Gateway Mall says they’re not connected to Margo Fournier Centre sale

A “For Sale” sign sitting on the front lawn of the Margo Fournier Centre has caused some commotion within the community.

Most recently, Prince Albert Mayor Greg Dionne filed a lawsuit against the Prince Albert Daily Herald after they published a column that allegedly suggested he was behind the sale of the Margo Fournier Centre.

The column, written by former Daily Herald editor and city counsellor Barb Gustafson, hinted the Gatewall Mall, which Dionne formerly managed, as the primary “interested party” in the purchase of the building.

However, those claims have been denied by Gateway Mall manager Sharon Faul.

In an official response, Faul said the mall is, “Not connected or involved in any way with the current speculation surrounding the city sale of the property.”

“The Gateway Mall’s only relationship with the Margo Fournier Centre and Heritage Centre is that of a good neighbour,” said Faul.

The news came as a surprise to Faul who said she, “Wasn’t anticipating anything like that ever coming out in the media.”

The for-sale sign has been up at the Margo Fournier Centre since Aug.26.
