Estevan recovers quickly after flash flooding
People in Estevan spent part of the long weekend cleaning up after a torrential downpour caused flash flooding on Saturday.
Environment Canada says the city got 122 millimetres of rain on Saturday which beats a 1951 single day rainfall record for the month of September.
Roy Ludwig is the Mayor of Estevan and he says the water was very high on Saturday, but it cleared up quickly.
“We had to close down downtown because we had the young kids with the four by fours running up and down the street causing waves of water going into the businesses,” he said. “So it was pretty dicey for a while there.”
