Horse Tales Literacy Program:

 Read to Horses??

√  Students have an opportunity to build a relationship with a horse and spending time practicing reading while reading to their horse.

Why?

√  Horses are nonjudgmental!!  This encourages students to attempt words that they may find difficult. The facilitators are always available if the student would like assistance with words.

√  There are usually underlying issues that exasperate reading difficulties such as ADHD, FAS, or other developmental or behavioral issues.  Working with horses is very effective in assisting the student in learning self-regulation and increasing confidence which can only improve their reading abilities.

√  Handouts, puzzles and other activity pages are also provided so they can continue the learning at school and home.
