Tanya Prochshyn is awake, and she still has all of her memories.

This is the latest from Pablo Benitez, who said his fiancé Prochshyn is recovering at Royal University Hospital after under going sucessful brain surgery Wednesday to remove part of a brain tumour.

“She’s recovering. The doctors said that everything went good from their point,” Benitez told the Brent Loucks Show on Thursday.

“She’s waking up and closing her eyes,” he said, adding she remains under 24-hour watch.

Prochshyn was in an operating room less than 24 hours after Pablo got down on one knee and proposed at the Ed Sheeran concert Tuesday.

He planned the proposal after getting front row tickets from Sheeran himself.

“This was all for her and for my kids. I have to show my kids an example. As kids they learn, and they’re seeing things. I had to do this, this was the right thing to do.”

The couple’s story has captured the hearts of many people in Saskatoon. From a wedding dress to a honeymoon in Niagara Falls, the entire wedding has been paid for by donations from local businesses.

Benitez said the support has overwhelmed the family.

“Last night when I got home I went on to my phone … I just started bawling man. All these good people that are helping Tanya out, all the support. I called them her angels, it’s amazing.”

Tanya has been given four to five years to live.

Benitez said he can’t thank the community and hospital staff enough for all they have done for Tanya and their family.
