Spring storm to bring high winds, rainfall to Saskatchewan on Thursday
The spring storm set to hit Saskatchewan is “just getting itself wound up,” according to Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada.
A wind warning has been put in place by Environment Canada, covering the southern part of the province, including Regina, while a rainfall warning covered a large area around Meadow Lake and north of Prince Albert, including La Ronge. A freezing rain warning was also in effect on Thursday in the northeastern corner of Saskatchewan, covering the area around Wollaston Lake.
The bulk of the storm will hit the province on Thursday, the meteorologist said.
“Really, really strong winds” will develop across much of the southern part of Saskatchewan, Lang said, with gusts “in excess of 90 kilometres per hour, with some winds – particularly over the southwest – in excess of 100 kilometres per hour.”
