Fire ban lifted for Little Red, Northern Sask.
The ban on open fires at Little Red River Park has now been lifted, and fires will now be allowed at designated receptacles.
Thanks to some rainfall and cooler temperatures, the province is ending a fire ban that covered much of northern Saskatchewan.
The ban was put in place on May 22 when there were 21 active wildfires across Saskatchewan. At that time, the entire province was under a high to extreme risk of fire.
On Wednesday morning, the ministry of environment officially ended the ban citing improved conditions and reduced wildfire activity. The ministry’s website indicated there were nine wildfires actively burning in Saskatchewan, and only one of those was listed as not contained.
