Police track suspects who allegedly abandoned stolen SUV

Police in Prince Albert are currently searching for two people who allegedly abandoned a stolen SUV in the Midtown area.

Officers are looking for the alleged driver and passenger in the 10th Street East and Sixth Avenue East area, near Ecole Valois.

The vehicle was abandoned in the driveway of a home that is a couple of blocks away from the school, shortly after 11 a.m.

Bill Topping said he witnessed the vehicle’s occupants flee the scene. He was looking out of his window across the street, and said he saw that one police vehicle had stopped the SUV.

As soon as another police vehicle appeared, he saw the SUV speed down the street.

“The one police car cut him off and he pulled into the neighbour’s driveway and he discovered that there’s a car and a garage in the way, so he stopped the car and he bailed out on foot,” Topping said.

A K9 unit was also sighted in the area.

Police do not believe the suspects pose a danger to the public. They have informed officials at Ecole Valois about the police activity in the area, and operations at the school are continuing as normal.

Police have not released suspect descriptions to the public, but plan to release more information soon.
