Raiders’ McBride captures major WHL award
Nick McBride is the 2014-15 WHL scholastic player of the year.
The 17-year-old goaltender from Maple Ridge, B.C. received the accolade during the league’s awards banquet on Wednesday afternoon in Calgary.
He appeared in 37 games with the Raiders this past season and also played in the CHL prospects game where he turned his season around. McBride finished the season with a 13-18-1 record with a 3.41 GAA and .895 save percentage. However, his statistics improved dramatically in the final two months of the season.
NHL Central Scouting ranked McBride seventh among North American goaltenders in their final list for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft in June where he is considered to be a solid draft prospect.
