Kidnapping, murder suspect remains in custody

The man who surrendered to police in February is still in custody after appearing by video in a La Ronge courtroom Monday morning.

Jonas Budd, 44, was scheduled for a bail hearing. Instead, he consented to remand and set his multiple charges ahead until June 1.

He’s charged with first degree murder and a long list of weapons charges after the Feb. 19 manhunt by RCMP officers.

Kayla Natomagan was kidnapped and police put out an Amber Alert, which led them to Manitoba.
