St. Mary’s Residence Spiritual Direction and Programs – Battleford

April 30, Faith: What is it? (From 10am-2:30pm) Have you ever been told to have faith and walked away wondering, how do I do that? This day will explore what faith is and what it is not and how we can nourish it. Bring your bible, a pen and notebook.

April 30, Thomas Merton: An Introduction to the Man and His Work. (From 7pm-8:30pm) This is part one of a two part series on Thomas Merton. Thomas Merton is one of the most influential spiritual writers, thinkers and persons of prayer in our time. Despite his untimely death almost fifty years ago his works continue to enrich our prayer and reflection. In this session we will explore his life and thought. Bring a pen and notebook.

May 6-9, St Mary High School “The Wedding Singer” – Upstage Production would like to invite the community to upcoming performances.  Show times at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. from May 6-9.  Tickets cost $18.00 for adults (ages 19 and over) and $13.00 for students (ages 18 years and under) and are available at the E.A. May 8, Retreat for Women – An ecumenical, one day retreat for women of all faiths. Speakers are Sr. Chantelle Bonk, Srs. of the Presentation of Mary; Rev. Nora Vedress, Calvary United Church and Rev. Iris Kristjansdottir, Messiah Lutheran Church.  The day will run from 9am-4pm at St. Michael Parish Hall (1505-13 St. West).  Registration fee: $25.00, nutritional snacks and lunch included.  Contact St. Michael Parish at 306-763-5658 or stmichaelparish@sasktel.net.  Deadline: May 1. 

May 23, Chef Fr. Leo Patalinghug – Fr. Leo Patalinghug will be here on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Carlton Comprehensive Public High School (665-28 St. East, Prince Albert).  With his unique style he will speak to youth, married couples and families. With food, faith and fun, Fr. May 30, Altar Server Appreciation Day – Will take place at Par Place, just west of Prince Albert on the Shellbrook Highway.  In case of rain venue will be moved into Sacred Heart Cathedral and Rivier Academy.  The day will include games, sports and lots of fun. A closing celebration with Bishop Thévenot, M. Afr. will include a special recognition certificate and gift for all servers present who have served 5 years or more.  Cost is $10 per person before May 27, $15 after the early bird date.  Registration forms will be online by April 30 and mailed out to each of the parishes shortly afterwards.

Altar Server Appreciation Day Help Needed – This year for the Altar Server Appreciation Day on May 30, we are trying something new. The Diocese is putting on an Amazing Race Event at Par Place (west of Prince Albert on  Shellbrook Hwy) and we need volunteers to help set-up, run stations, snack and water stations, etc.  If you are interested in volunteering in any of these areas from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 30, please contact Christine Taylor at 306-922-4747 ext. 227 or Andrea Langlois at 306-922-4747 ext. 228.
