Saskatchewan opens Brier with a win
Saskatchewan pulled out a 4-3 extra-end win over PEI in the opening draw of the Tim Horton's Brier at Rexall Place in Edmonton on Saturday.
Brock Virtue's team from the Callie Curling Club in Regina stole one in the ninth end to take a 3-1 lead, but Eddie MacKenzie's quartet rallied with a deuce in ten to force an extra end.
Despite a miss from second Chris Schille in the extra end, Virtue was able to draw to the four foot with his final stone for the win.
The Saskatchewan team of third Braeden Moskowy, second Chris Schille and lead DJ Kidby has some tough competition on Sunday as they face two time champion Glenn Howard from Ontario and the 2006 Olympic champion Brad Gushue from Newfoundland/Labrador.
