Ontario’s loss is Saskatchewan’s gain

Mary Buhr has been the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Bioresources at the University of Saskatchewan for two years now. Every time I hear her speak, I’m more impressed.
Mary Buhr came to Saskatchewan from the University of Guelph because of the enormous opportunity she sees in this province’s agriculture sector. Understandably, it’s taken her a while to get a firm grasp on all the College departments and all the other agriculture institutions located on the U of S campus, but now you won’t find a stronger, more passionate advocate for the role that agriculture can play in the provincial economy.
The College has an impressive array of resources including 835 acres of land on campus for research and teaching and 4,450 acres off campus. A new facility was recently announced for its dairy unit and its feedlot has plans to relocate. It has a phytotron, a meat processing pilot plant, aquaculture research and a Poultry Centre. Its Canadian Feed Research Centre is located at North Battleford.
