RCMP calls Leask hotel fire suspicious

Feb 16, 2011 | 10:29 AM

The early morning fire that reduced the Leask hotel to rubble last week was no accident, said RCMP Wednesday.

“We have received information that leads us to believe that it is a suspicious fire in origin,” said Sgt. John Redlich, with the Blaine Lake RCMP.

He said that police are following up on tips to further the investigation and solidify a cause.

“We have numerous resources on it right now and we are certainly treating at as a serious offence.”

Redlich would not discuss details of the investigation or if RCMP has any suspects.

“We have persons of interest that we are looking at, but right now that’s what I would call them, persons of interest,” he said.

He could not say when or if charges would laid, but said RCMP has information that is significant in nature.
