Playing with fire believed to be cause of deadly Saskatoon blaze
We're getting a better picture of what happened Wednesday night inside an apartment on Avenue X South in Saskatoon.
Fire investigators believe they've identified a cause to a deadly fire — and it could end up haunting a small child.
According to the Saskatoon Fire Department, two young children were alone in a bedroom when the fire ignited. Deputy fire chief Gary Kobussen said the blaze was started by a five-year-old boy.
“The young child was playing with fire,” Kobussen said. Investigators learned this through interviews and by finding the remains of a lighter found in the bedroom.
