Christmas holidays wrapped up

Jan 3, 2011 | 6:31 AM

After two weeks of family and fun, youth are heading back to school this week.

Some of them took the opportunity to go skating, before heading back, at the Dave G. Steuart Arena on Sunday afternoon.

While they enjoyed their time off, a few are looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

“Just to see my friends,” was the reason Grade 5 student, Jessica Gaudet, gave for wanted to go to class. It was a sentiment she shared with her friend Brooklyn Leschyshyn.

Both girls say good-bye to their holidays on Tuesday when classes start in the Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division. Prince Albert Rivers School Division students go back on Wednesday.

Not all kids are looking forwards to it.

“Not so much,” said Grade 1 student, Jack Mortimer. “I don’t really like school at all.”

One they all agreed on was how much fun their two weeks away from school were.

Grade 1 student, Brycen Brule, loved putting up the Christmas tree over the holiday and took some time to play hockey.

“My favourite part was Christmas,” said Mortimer while taking off his skates.

Leschyshyn said the most fun part was going to her grandma and grandpa’s farm.

While Gaudet’s favourite part was getting the opportunity to visit with her cousins, she also went to Saskatoon and did some outdoor activities like skating and hockey.

Students will have another chance to get away from the books and tests for a while next month. February break starts on Feb. 21 and gives them another week off.
