Safety for the holiday season
As the holidays approach, Parkland Ambulance Care reminds families to use common
safety sense throughout the season.
Prevent choking: For children especially, small toys and special foods can be an accident
waiting to happen. Ensure toys are appropriate for the age of the child, and won't create a
danger for younger children in the household. Don't put out nuts or candies when young
children are expected, and don't allow children to run around with food in their hands or
mouth. Learn basic first aid, so you know how to help a choking victim.
Prepare for holiday parties – make sure to clean up after the party by emptying ash trays
or putting away food or left over drinks. Especially if you have little ones who might get up
before their parents some spoiled food or left over alcoholic drinks can be poisonous if
consumed.
