Clay DeBray will represent the NDP in Rosthern-Shellbrook in the 2011 election.

He was chosen as the NDP candidate at a nomination meeting on Sunday in Shellbrook.

“I am delighted to welcome Clay to the NDP team as we look to give the residents of Rosthern-Shellbrook real representation in 2011,” said Saskatchewan NDP Leader Dwain Lingenfelter.

“Clay has taught and worked with communities and young people throughout the province. He will bring his formidable leadership and organizational skills to his next role as the MLA for Rosthern-Shellbrook.”

DeBray, originally from Duck Lake, has served on several boards and committees that assisted in the development of sport for Aboriginal people and communities.

He is the Metis Community Sport Consultant with Sask Sport Inc. and has been a coordinator at the North American Indigenous Games and the co-chairman for the Saskatchewan First Nations Summer Games.

He has also been a teacher for six years on Beardys-Okemasis First Nation.

The NDP has now nominated 33 candidates to run in the election Nov. 7, 2011.
