Saskatoon Police said that a one of the two vehicles involved in a serious collision on Idylwyld Drive had been stolen from Prince Albert.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. Tuesday, with Corman Park Police first noticing the vehicle travelling south on Highway 11 after a complaint about how it was driving.

The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver continued southbound before entering city limits. The stolen SUV then crossed the ditch into oncoming lanes and struck a northbound Ford van, which subsequently caught fire. The 82-year-old man who was driving the van is in Royal University Hospital with serious injuries.

Because of the CPPS involvement before the crash, the Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) has been notified and has taken conduct of the investigation.
