Pamper your Pets at the Paw Print Inn

When planning a vacation, finding someone to take of your pets can be a challenge. Well, the SPCA has opened the Paw Print Inn, a modern animal boarding facility with plenty of room for your furred loved ones while you’re away.

For Leanna Roberts, director of the site, it’s got everything an animal owner could ever want for their pet's comfort while they’re away.

“This is the newest, most modern facility,” Roberts said. “We have all in-floor heating, four large runs for dogs to get out, exercise and play, we’re right by the off-leash park and we’ve got the ultimate cat room.”

The boarding kennel, which is located in the North Industrial area, can hold about 30 dogs and 8 cats.

The inn isn’t being designed as a place to hold animals from the SPCA’s shelter, said Roberts. Instead it’s a place where people can bring their pets while away and know they’ll be taken care of in a comfortable and healthy environment.

It does however help the SPCA by providing another source of relatively stable funding outside of going to the public.

“We saw this as a way we could generate revenue without having to nickel and dime the people of Prince Albert to death,” said Roberts.

“We’re trying to become self-sufficient so that we can provide the services to the animals we house at the SPCA.”

The new facility offers both short- and long-term boarding as well as multi-animal rooms for pets from the same family.

As well, there are daycare services for animals and pay-per-use dog washing facilities open the public.

Finally, the inn also offers pick up and drop off services to those within the city limits.

After so many years of planning, obtaining land and construction, Roberts said she happy to see it all coming together.

“It’s was a lot of work but it feels great to be here,” said Roberts. “It feels good to be able to offer the service and interact with the dogs.”
