GL Mobile Communications specializes in communication solutions and they are Prince Albert’s communication professionals. They offer a variety of communication products and the staff at GL Mobile Communications take pride in guiding their customers to find the right communications solutions for them.

GL Mobile Communications has been assisting Prince Albert residents with their communication needs since 1988.  Over that time they have experienced a variety of changes within the industry as technology progressed and they have grown from a small staff of only two people to current staff of 16 people.

Joey Christian, general manager at GL Mobile Communications said their focus at GL Mobile Communications is to always provide the latest in mobile communications solutions.

“We have grown to include SaskTel smart phones and accessories, Motorola 2-way radios and accessories, Iridium & Globalstar satellite phones, SPOT GPS satellite messengers, SKY Velocity and Xplornet High-Speed Internet as well as Viper remote start systems,” said Christian.

GL Mobile Communications was recently voted as Prince Albert’s best rural Internet provider. They offer two Internet services including Sky Velocity and Xplornet High Speed.

“SKY Velocity is our own Internet service and it is a division of GL Mobile,” said Christian. “It’s a tower based internet service for rural Prince Albert and area, so it goes all the way from Weldon all the way up to Candle Lake, Emma Lake, Shellbrook, and out to MacDowall.”

GL Mobile Communications other Internet option Xplornet is a satellite Internet service. Xplornet is focused on providing high-speed wireless and satellite Internet for rural areas of Canada.

“With tower based you have to be within a certain distance from the tower to get a signal but with satellite as long as you have a clear shot to the sky just like satellite TV you can get internet,” said Christian.

But Internet is only a portion of the communication services that GL Mobile Communications provides. They are also a SaskTel dealer and they offer a full selection of cellular and smart phones. They also have the largest selection of phone accessories in Northern Saskatchewan.

“A phone is a phone is a phone,” said Christian. If anybody has a iPhone 5 it’s the same as everybody else’s until you put a different case on it then it’s your phone.”

At GL Mobile Communications they also have an in-house repair centre, and they perform iPad, iPod and iPhone repairs as well as 2-way radio and satellite phone repairs. 

 “So we will fix iPads, iPods, iPhones and any other brand of smartphone even if it is not a SaskTel phone,” said Christian. “We can locate or source out the parts, get it in for somebody, quote it to them and then fix it up for them even if it’s Bell, Fido, TELUS, Virgin, whatever.”

GL Mobile Communications has two locations within Prince Albert. Their main office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is located at 124A South Industrial Drive. GL Mobile Communications also has a kiosk at the Gateway Mall that is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
