Trust is the essential ingredient when you are protecting your assets. When purchasing insurance you need to know that you are dealing with someone that is clearly working in your best interest. After all, everything you have is everything you have, regardless of how illustrious or how humble it may be.
At Cornerstone Insurance “Built on Trust” is their slogan and it is the foundation on which they operate. The evidence of this is that more business leaders and personal clients are trusting Cornerstone every year.
“We are truly grateful to have had a straight and rapid trajectory since 2001 and I want to step back and thank all the people that have demonstrated such a high level of confidence in us, by doing business with us,” said Tim Longworth, president and CEO of Cornerstone Insurance Service Incorporated.
“Our motor license issuing department has increased every year and rapidly, our personal lines has increased every year and rapidly and our commercial lines as well. I am so impressed with so many business owners putting their confidence in us, I just want to thank all of them and our terrific staff doing such an outstanding job to make it all possible,” he added.
Longworth said the insurance industry, particularly in Saskatchewan, is currently going through a metamorphosis. He said due to this, now more then ever, it is important for individuals and businesses to make sure they work with a broker that they know they can trust and who can access a number of different insurance companies and knows the differences between them.
“For the first time in history the amount of insurance money being paid out on storm and water claims has surpassed fire. So wind, water, hail, ice damage, etc., etc., etc. there are all kinds of claims,” said Longworth.
“It may be partly due to changes in weather patterns but it’s also partially due to the fact that people don’t have a concrete basement with a just few boxes being stored there anymore it’s a living space that they have it fully finished so the amounts paid out for things damaged or being fixed is significantly higher.”
He said the changes that are being made will result in overall higher premiums to help catch up to the cost of the claims frequency and severity. According to Longworth, insurance companies are changing their methods as to how they determine risk and are stepping away from the basic manual plug in the formula system, to a much more sophisticated, personal and specific way of doing things.
“Data already collected is so vast now that insurers can differentiate in areas of a province or city or even in areas of different postal codes as well as the history of individuals and/or specific property claims….they have all that info available to them now and so they are rating way more specifically,” said Longworth. “It takes a way higher level of expertise to navigate those waters.”
“There are no broad strokes to white wash everything with the same brush anymore. It’s vastly different from one risk to the next,” he added.
